William Wallace, Jr. (1864-1939) was a Helena, Montana, attorney. Samuel Thomas Hauser (1833-1914), born in Kentucky, moved to Missouri in 1853 and became an engineer. He was a member of the Yellowstone Expedition of 1863 and the 1870 Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition to the Upper Missouri. William Wallace, Jr. was born in Syracuse, New York, on January 28, 1864, the son of William and Helen Carpenter Wallace. He began high school at the age of ten, and, although he never matriculated at Harvard, he passed the finals at the age of fifteen. From 1879 to 1880 he worked on his father's sheep ranch in Montana. Granville Stuart was born August 27, 1834, in Clarksburg, Harrison County, Virginia, to Robert Stuart and Nancy Currence Hall. He was the second of five children. Helena, Mont., entrepreneur. Anton M. Holter was born in Norway in 1831. He arrived in the U.S. in 1854.
